GENMA Maintenance · Safety First | Before You Start, Ask Yourself These 5 Questions
Before you open the hood or pick up a tool, take one minute to ask yourself: Am I really ready? That minute could prevent an injury—or even save a life.
Q1: Is the power disconnected?
"I'm just replacing a small part, it'll be fine"—one of the most dangerous thoughts.
GENMA reminds you: Before any maintenance, shut down the motor and disconnect the control circuit power. Post warning signs in visible areas. High voltage doesn't care if you're "just looking." Disconnect, lockout, tagout—every step matters.
Q2: Is the ground safe?
Where is the machine positioned? Is the ground firm and level? Pay special attention to this: Ground bearing pressure must meet the specifications in your GENMA operation and maintenance manual to prevent shifting, deformation, sinking, or collapse. Soft soil or sloped surfaces can cause a hundred-ton machine to tip—with serious consequences.
Q3: Are you qualified?
"The old-timers do it this way" doesn't mean it's right.
GENMA reminds you: Maintenance, repairs, part replacements, parameter adjustments, and troubleshooting must only be performed by trained professionals. If you're not trained, don't touch—not even a single bolt.
Q4: Are your tools ready?
Removing a heavy component without lifting equipment? Using muscle power? Absolutely not.
Never attempt to remove large parts without proper lifting equipment. Forcing it turns components into hazards. Always use certified, industrial-grade lifting gear.
Q5: Have you read the manual?
"Learning as I go" often means "learning from mistakes."
GENMA recommends: Read your GENMA operation and maintenance manual or parts instructions carefully—every step is documented for a reason. We've written it all down. Just open it.
These five questions may seem simple, but they come from real-world experience. GENMA includes them in every maintenance manual because we believe true professionalism shows in the small details—especially when it comes to safety.
Next time you're about to start maintenance, ask yourself these five questions. Make safety a habit.
